Can I Exercise with Colored Contact Lenses?

Aug 22,2022 | Unicoeye® | Colored Contact Lenses

People who suffer from vision problems may find it frustrating to exercise while wearing glasses. This is because exercising with glasses is prone to a whole host of problems that can make physical activity difficult or even dangerous. For example, those who wear glasses might experience the following and more while participating in sports:

  • The hassles of the frame bumping up and down duringtheir move
  • Fogging lenses due to increased body heat
  • Reductions in their peripheral vision because of the frames
  • Discomfort when wearing athletic headgear
  • Serious harm could result if a piece of equipment smashes their spectacles and the shards of glass unintentionally slash their face.

These possibilities create inherent risks in any form of exercise and may deter people with glasses from participating in sports due to potential costs, both physical and financial. Sometimes it’s easy to take glasses off, but that isn’t safe or feasible for people whose prescription is so severe that they need their glasses just to get around. Thankfully, you don’t have to choose between glasses and exercise. Suitable for nearly any fitness routine, Unicoeye’s colored contacts come in a wide range of prescription levels for your convenience, so you don’t have to be confined to the sidelines or change the way you exercise.

You already know that colored contact lenses aren’t made of hard glass, so they can’t shatter and won’t injure your eye on impact. Furthermore, in the event that they do tear, they aren’t nearly as costly to replace as glasses thanks to their existing regular replacement schedule. Even the price of a pair of 12-month colored contacts is only a fraction of what an entirely new pair of glasses will go for, so there is no need to fret if anything happens to those long-term lenses. With no frames in sight, the colored contact lenses won’t rub on your nose or block your peripherals, and these lenses don’t fog up once you start sweating, leaving you both comfortable and fully aware of your surroundings. If your exercise requires a helmet or goggles, colored contacts are still the best choice, as they don’t interfere with the fit or comfort of these safety devices. Whatever the problem created by your glasses is, colored contact lenses can be the solution to it.

One important limitation to be aware of, however, is watersports. It is never advisable to let your colored contact lenses touch any kind of water, as this may lead to possible eye infections from exposure to bacteria. Even if you think your standard swim goggles are airtight enough to prevent any water from getting inside, for your safety, activities like water polo and swimming are better suited to a pair of prescription swim goggles instead. Thankfully, though, this is the only major caveat to wearing contacts when exercising, and the rest of what the fitness world has to offer is totally open to you.

You should never have to sacrifice your safety and comfort to get a workout. Unicoeye is committed to providing colored contacts that are stylish, functional, and easy to wear. Since you don’t necessarily need to make a huge splash with your eye color while you hit the gym or run drills on the field, we recommend colored contact lenses that roughly match or enhance your natural eye color. Consider checking out our Recommendation for Outdoor page, where we’ve compiled a variety of shades of blue, green, brown, grey, and hazel. You’re sure to find one pair that suits you best. Leave your glasses in their case and start to enjoy the exercise process!
